Ecotourism is responsible travel to natural areas which conserves the environment and improves the welfare of local people.
We engage our clients with local culture, history and heritage, while at the same time providing rewarding trips to beautiful destinations around the world. Our trips are designed to go beyond the natural beauty of a destination and engage the traveler in becoming involved in the local culture and preservation of their desired destination.
We offer trips that incorporate volunteering your time and energy to local communities and villages, as well as, trips that provide the traveler with responsible lodging facilities, cultural heritage and hands on interaction with local people.
Rural communities are rich with local knowledge and have a strong appreciation of their natural and cultural heritage. We strive to cultivate this in the travelers as they journey to the many indigenous communities that we have to offer.
We understand that these adventures are more than just a destination, but more importantly about the world and its varying cultures and climates and understanding respect for nature and mankind.
“I owe my soul to the fork in the road, each misleading sign.”

TerraTrekker adheres to the following criteria with each of our expeditions:
- Build an environmental and cultural awareness and respect
- Provide positive experiences for both visitors and hosts
- Provide direct benefits for conservation
- Provide financial benefits and empowerment for local people
- Raise sensitivity to host countries' political, environmental, and social climate
The goal is not merely to “lend a hand”, but rather to demonstrate and foster skills to indigenous people within these villages and implement proper practices that will enable them to learn and teach themselves and future generations. This enables the visitor to enhance the cultural integrity of the local people. This is done in many ways, but is not limited to the following:
- Education
- Environment
- Housing
- Health Care
- Infrastructure
“We become more alive by simply changing our environment - in a novel setting where you can no longer count on things as they were, our senses become more finely attuned and our instincts sharpened – it’s a sure ticket to revitalized awareness.”
